Our Brooklyn studio is opening soon...
People in the streets, in the parks…and in the canal? Earlier this week, the city of love hit temperatures of 41 degrees, and we just so happened to be there co-hosting two buzzing events at Fête de la Musique with our friends from UJI & Maison Château Rouge. When we saw how hot it was going to be, we got a little nervous for the celebration's turnout – but we never should have doubted you.
We showed up dressed up, water bottles full, shades on, fans spinning, and were so happy to see so many of you doing the same… and that’s what music does: it brings us together, even in the sweatiest of times. 💦
Just like last week, in NYC, following the Knicks' historic win, everyone all out for one reason: to celebrate the city. Loud chants, dancing in the streets, people climbing light poles to wave flags and jerseys… the city was one. And we sometimes need those special moments to remind us of the importance of physically being together, seeing and feeling each other.
Our Brooklyn studio is becoming a space for these special occasions. Whether it’s for productions, work sessions, or events we host, it's becoming what we hoped it would: somewhere people come to create, to connect, to sit and watch something come alive.
Most recently, our studio was packed with that exact energy when NYC-based sibling band Infinity Song walked through the doors. What drew us in wasn't just their talent – it was the authenticity of their bond, the kind you only see with family. They’re just four siblings who kept showing up for each other, kept making music together, long before the world caught on. Their father was a choir director; they grew up singing together, performing on subway platforms long before anyone knew their names. Then in 2016, everything shifted when they got pulled into Roc Nation's office to sing for Jay Z – doesn't get much more New York than that.
Their story, their energy, their connection as siblings making music as a unit; it’s exactly what we wanted to capture when they came to record their COLORS SHOW with us. It's what our studio was built for: moments like that.
Which is why we believe now is the perfect moment to open our doors to the public. With TONES OF NYC, we’re running a three-day activation in our studio space, July 7-9, and we wanted to share what's coming with you directly. Shina, our community programming lead, has been orchestrating what's about to happen. Here's what he had to say:
"What's great is we have a lot of returning collaborators from TONES OF NYC last year," Shina explains. "But beyond that, a lot of the new collaborators, they're not just collaborators. They're genuine friends, genuine connections. It feels like family again.”
The activations speak to that. It's packed with amazing partners and projects that are so worth checking out.
We're hosting a houswarming party with music collective WHATMORE. An album release party with Kelela. One Love Community Fridge is hosting a packing event around food access and community care. The photography collective Street Dreams will be exhibiting work. Half Moon's providing the soundtrack with DJ sets. Storage is bringing a vintage marketplace with local vendors. And then there's Summer Stage at Herbert Von King Park for the performances of Mereba, Mack Keane, and Arima Ederra. And of course, we had to bring Infinity Song back so you can hear their story and watch them perform up close.
But here's what Shina really wants people to know: "Community isn't just the surface. It's not just the activations, as great as they are. What I'm really looking forward to is creating space for people to have conversations that actually matter; conversations that can help us figure out, together, what we could do for the community. What can we do, even if it's the little things.”
For us, this TONES feel like we’re opening our home. That people are coming to really see us as we are, while genuinely connecting. As Shina said, “It's a place for like-hearted people, creative or not, to come together. It’s a space to meet, to stay, to hang out, to work if you need to. It's free. It's a place we want to feel like home.”
