Indonesian artist Rich Brian, born Brian Imanuel, has caused quite a stir over the past few years with singles like ‘Dat $tick’, ‘Who That Be,’ ‘Seventeen’ and ‘’Back At It’ to name a few. In 2017, Brian dropped ‘Amen’, his brilliant debut album which showcased his uncanny ability to maneuver across any beat with ease whilst working his lyrical magic. This past summer Rich Brian released ‘The Sailor’, his second full length album which features contributions from the likes of RZA, Bēkon and Joji and further cements his status as one of the most exciting rappers around.
For COLORS, Rich Brian gets candid on ‘Drive Safe’, a stand out cut from ‘The Sailor’. Comprising of a gentler soundscape which replaces synths and hip hop beats for soft guitar lines and strings, ‘Drive Safe’ is a love song of sorts which opens up the space for Rich Brian to give one of his most personal performances to date. Check out the soothing session above and be sure to get ‘The Sailor’ on rotation too.
