From releasing ‘short thoughts recorded in my bed’ on her SoundCloud to being signed to Def Jam, Oslo based singer-songwriter Lil Halima is undoubtedly one of the most exciting voices to come out of Norway. Last year, the rising musician followed up her delightful debut single ‘Abstract’ and ‘Train’ with ‘love songs for bad lovers’, her unequivocally impressive debut EP which features stand out cuts like ‘Would You’ and closing track ‘Jasmine’. The project brilliantly captures Lil Halima’s compelling sound which draws elements from pop, R&B, soul and electronica.
For her COLORS session, Lil Halima delivers an hypnotic and endearing performance of her latest single ‘Hold Me’, which is taken from her forthcoming EP titled ‘for the dark days’. Sliding over the gentle piano progressions and subtle electronic pulses, Lil Halima’s soft-spoken voice and ardent words exude a vulnerability as she intones “I just need someone to / Hold my hand” in the track’s chorus. Check out Lil Halima’s rendition of ‘Hold Me’ up top, and be sure to keep an eye out for her upcoming new EP ‘for the dark days’.
