headie one – teach me
North London based artist Headie One (aka Irving Adjei) is at the forefront of the UK drill music scene. Over the years the emcee has released several projects such as ‘Headz or Tails’, ‘The One’, ‘The One Two’ and more, but it’s with his 2020 EP ‘GANG’ (with Fred Again) that took things to another level. Boasting a star-studded lineup featuring the likes of FKA twigs, Sampha and Jamie xx, the eight-track project epitomised Headie One’s sharp penmanship and powerful delivery over refreshing beats courtesy of Fred Again. To top things off, Headie One unveiled his long awaited debut album ‘EDNA’, which further exemplifies his incredible versatility as an artist as he forayed into unexpected territories.
That’s exactly the case with the somewhat surprising opener to ‘EDNA’ titled ‘Teach Me’, which Headie One performs as part of his A COLORS SHOW. Produced by MadaraBeatz who lays down a soothing beat, the track sees Headie One at his most vulnerable state as he reflects on broken promises, fame, money and his mental health. Listen and watch the brilliant performance of ‘Teach Me’, which wonderfully sets the scene for ‘EDNA’ up top.
