Lorely Rodriguez aka Empress Of is arguably one of the most interesting and exciting artists around. Her quirky and eclectic sounds are just as meticulous as they are free flowing, and with self-produced debut album ‘Me’, which dropped in 2015, Empress Of gave us a taste of just that with dazzling cuts like ‘Kitty Kat’, ‘Water Water’ and ‘How Do You Do It’. Last year saw the release of Rodriguez’ sophomore album ‘Us’, another sparkling array of pop gems that features collaborations with the likes of Dev Hynes, DJDS, Cole M.G.N. and Spanish producer Pional.
One of those delightful moments is the bilingual ‘Trust Me Baby’, which Empress Of performs for her COLORS session. Weaving in and out of Spanish and English, the track’s teetering production (co-produced by Cole M.G.N.) serves as the perfect playground for Empress Of’s smooth intonations as she sings about having a mutual trust with her partner. Watch the spellbinding performance of ‘Trust Me Baby’ up top and be sure to check out Empress Of’s astounding new album ‘Us’ too.
