DJDS & Dijon – Magic Loop

L.A. based duo DJDS (comprised of Same and Jerome) team up with R&B singer Dijon on the magical ‘Magic Loop. Serving as the first taste of music since they released their star-studded sophomore album ‘Big Wave More Fire’ which featured the likes of Amber Mark, Vic Mensa as well as COLORS alumni Marco McKinnis and Empress Of, ‘Magic Leap’ is delectable slice of electro-R&B. Whilst the song encompasses a slightly more mellow and softer sound compared to the pair’s more underground techno sounds, it shines just as bright with Dijon’s exceptional vocals accompanying the infectious “do do do”s that carry the track along.

dhruv – double take

Having shared a handful of gorgeous acoustic demos on his SoundCloud over the past year or so, New York based singer/songwriter dhruv delivers his first studio single in the form of ‘double take’. Produced by fellow New Yorker frankis, the sparkling track features a sharp electronic, trap inspired soundbed which boasts a pounding bass which is topped off by dhruv’s exquisite vocal delivery. It serves as dhruv’s first. A brilliant debut offering, ‘double take’ is a dazzling introduction to dhruv’s artistry and according to his SoundCloud, there’s more new music on the way.

Raveena – Lucid

New York based artist Raveena’s music has a way of entering and soothing every sinew of your soul. Over the past few years, the rising singer/songwriter (alongside long-time collaborator and producer Everett Orr) has crafted a sound that enlightens and heals with each word, note, beat. The culmination of this craft, is ‘Lucid’, Raveena’s mesmerising and utterly enchanting debut album. A torch bearer for South Asian artists, Raveena touches on everything from identity and sexuality to immigration and family – narrating personal experiences that resonate beautifully over the album’s twelve tracks.

Premiere: Rachel Faith – Phantom

Having released her hauntingly beautiful debut EP ‘CODEPENDENCY’ last year, Chicago based singer, songwriter and producer Rachel Faith shares the equally arresting ‘Phantom’. Premiering at COLORS, the track is accompanied by a glitchy, animated visual by Megan McGuire, Henrique Migue and Alex Koester, the tense and utterly captivating single titillates between ferocity and fragility. The production by frequent collaborator Elias Abid (Appleby) creates a dark and moody atmosphere, one that’s only heightened by Faith’s smoky yet silky vocals.

Kanika – Playing It Safe (ft. emawk)

L.A. based singer, songwriter and producer Kanika introduced herself earlier this year with the delicate and whispery ‘Is It Over Yet’; a heartfelt and utterly captivating debut. Her follow up single ‘Playing It Safe’, is another dreamy and atmospheric foray which features the endearing tones and poetic words of emawk. Together, the pair manoeuvre the ambient an cinematic soundscape as their vocals coalesce to form the most beautiful of harmonies.

Premiere: Shy Lennox – Soccer Man

Having released his brilliant debut EP ‘Audition’ last year, rising musician and songwriter Shy Lennox continues to delight with this hauntingly beautiful blend of alternative R&B. We’re thrilled to be premiering his latest offering ‘Soccer Man’, an intoxicating cut which sees contrasts between the dreamy harmonies and pitched vocals to the gentle keys and gritty electronic-led hook.Serving as a moment of introspection and self reflection, ‘Soccer Man’ is that ray of sunshine on an overcast day.

W. Y. Huang – Mercy {开光}

Singapore born, New York City based singer, songwriter and producer W. Y. Huang concocts a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere in ‘Mercy {开光}’, the lead single from his forthcoming debut EP titled ‘Crossing The Great Water 利涉大川’. The hypnotic and utterly intoxicating song incorporates Eastern-inspired sounds and moulds them seamlessly with more contemporary inflections to create an entirely immersive sound. It’s one of those rare gems that unravels a new layer with each listen – a masterfully produced song that is further heightened by Huang’s ardent vocals.

The Visions – The Visions

Comprised of brothers Ben and Michael Shugarman and longtime friend Ryan Brooks, The Visions are a Brooklyn based band creating sparkling pop gems that ooze class and groove. Their incredible newly released self-titled EP is a funk-filled extravaganza which stuns from start to finish. Whether it’s the bouncy atmospherics of opener ‘Oceans’ or the hazy inflections from latest single ‘Pool Party’, ‘The Visions’ is the perfect summer soundtrack to dive into.

Bathe – I’ll Miss You

Comprised of singer-songwriter Dev Hobdy and producer Corey Smith-West, Bathe are a Brooklyn based duo who’ve just released their delightful debut EP ‘I’ll Miss You’. Featuring the previously released singles ‘Dealer’ and ‘Kimmi’, the seven-track project pulls from a range of sounds all packaged into a body of work that encompasses a classic yet refreshing aesthetic. From the funk-filled ‘Dealer’ to the melancholic musings of ‘Sure Shot’, ‘I’ll Miss You’, is awash with emotive, poignant moments that capture your attention from start to finish.

Sports Boyfriend – Crying in July

Chicago based artist Eileen Peltier aka Sports Boyfriend delivers a sparkling and dreamy new single in the form of ‘Crying in July’. Serving as the follow up to previously released ‘Fear of God’, this new offering encompasses a groove-inflected, lo-fi aesthetic that sees Peltier’s silky smooth vocals shine from start to finish. The single is taken from Sports Boyfriend’s new EP which is out later this year, for now though, tuck into the dazzling track here.

Jackie Mendoza – De Lejos

San Diego native Jackie Mendoza’s experimental pop tracks can be just as explosive as they can be delicate. One of her most recent offerings, the soothing ‘De Lojas’, leans towards the latter end of the spectrum with its subtle and stripped down instrumentation comprised of gentle ukulele and clicks, accompanying Mendoza’s charming and endearing intonations. Sung in Spanish, the song is a delightful slice of future pop that explores the challenges that arise when dealing with a long distance relationship.

070 Shake – Morrow

G.O.O.D. Music signed artist and COLORS alum 070 Shake kicks off her musical output of the year with two brilliant new singles in the form of ‘Nice to Have’ and ‘Morrow’. Latrell James – Tracphone

Boston based rapper Latrell James is a playful poet, and his latest single ‘Tracphone’ (a pay-as-you-go mobile) is the perfect example of this. Likewise, previously heard single ‘Okay’, ‘Today’ and ‘Mona Lisa Bonet’ encompass a similar aesthetic whilst maintaining an element of freshness throughout. On ‘Tracphone’, James’ lackadaisical flow and delivery circumvent the deeper messages that line his wordplay as he raps about the shape shifting landscape in his life.

Amber Mark – Mixer

Ever since she introduced herself with the mesmerising ‘S P A C E’ a few years ago, New York based singer, songwriter and producer Amber Mark has continually blurred genres from around the globe to create a sound that’s entirely her own. Her two stunning EPs ‘3:33AM’ and ‘Conexão’ wonderfully embody Mark’s refreshing sounds and latest cut ‘Mixer’ continues that very trend. Glorious guitars and a sharp drumbeat are accompanied by twinkling piano chords to give Mark the platform to lay down her silky smooth vocals.

Jitwam – Temptations

With his roots in Assam, North-east India and his hustle now based in Brooklyn; Jitwam. draws his influence from a vast array of artists including but not limited to RD Burman, Moondog, The Velvet Underground, Jay Dilla, Moodymann, Asha Bhosle and Madlib to name a few. Soulful sounds within the realm of indie psychedelic rock and hip-hop, his fluidity as an artist fuses disparate styles and ideas into a world that is truly unique and his own. ‘Temptations’ with the heart felt vocals is his latest single from upcoming album ‘Honeycomb’ to be released on Tartelet Records which encapsulates his diverse upbringing in India and Australia, before living in monasteries in Thailand, orphanages in South Africa, and finally the US, where he currently resides.

Tepu – flip a coin

Dripping with groovy guitars and sizzling electronics, the latest offering from L.A. based singer/songwriter Tepu is an absolute blast. The blistering production in ‘flip a coin’, brings to mind the lush soundscapes of late 90’s and early 2000’s R&B jams a la Justin Timberlake with a refreshing twist. Of course, Tepu’s gloriously smooth vocals add an extra layer of luxe as they weave their way through the ever-growing soundscape. Serving as the follow up to last year’s mesmerising ‘Teri Awaz’, Tepu strikes a chord once again with ‘flip a coin’.

Mizan K – Dark Blue

Few projects stand the test of time, many fade away as easily as they came, but Mizan K’s ‘Dark Blue’ EP which dropped back in 2015, that’s not the case. The New York based singer, songwriter and producer’s poignant and poetic lyricism, soothing vocals and sophisticated production shine from opener ‘Looking For’ to the thought-provoking closer ‘7 Billion’. With ‘Dark Blue’, Mizan K captures the essence of love, life and loss and in turn, has created a body of work that is truly timeless and special.

Dijon – Sci Fi 1

Los Angeles-based, Baltimore-raised artist Dijon has shared ‘Sci Fi 1’, his charming debut EP which features the previously released singles ‘Cannonball’ and ‘Drunk’. Over the course of the EP’s seven songs, Dijon explores a variety of sounds, but one constant remains – his soaring, fragile, powerful, heartwarming voice. Whether it’s those serene tones that are accompanied by gentle guitar chords on ‘Dog Eyes’ or the distorted delivery on ‘Bracelet’, Dijon’s ability to capture emotion and convey a narrative is second to none – ‘Sci Fi 1’ is a gift that keeps on giving from start to finish.

emawk – Later

Boston born, Nairobi raised, New York based artist emawk’s newest single ‘Later’ is a breathtaking affair. The minimalist production creates a spacious and swelling atmosphere, one that envelopes and draws you in as emawk’s mesmerising voice carries you deeper. Each layer of instrumentation sees the track blossom with each note a moment of magic. With ‘Later’, emawk has concocted something truly special.

CUTTS – Breathe

Sometimes the simplest of songs are the ones that resonate with you the most, and that’s exactly the case with ‘Breathe’, the stunning new single from New York based duo CUTTS (Lillian Cutts and Peter Bonaventure). The emotive ballad presents a more subdued sound compared to the duo’s previous releases, yet once again, it’s vocalist Lillian Cutts’ soaring tones that steal the show here.
