Rising Montreal based artist Chiiild sets up the release of his forthcoming EP with the dark yet soulful new single ‘Hands Off Me’. Having already impressed us with the delectable ‘Count Me Out’ last summer, Chiiild continues his brilliant form with another sensational slice of moody R&B-infused soul that’s reminiscent of fellow native The Weeknds ‘House of Balloons’ trilogy. Texan singer/songwriter Liv. (pronounded “Liv”) shares brilliant new single ‘SirLadyMakemFall’ which is accompanied by an equally chilled video directed by Barrington Darius). Consider yourself introduced to Canadian based, Algerian born singer, songwriter Meryem Saci whose latest single ‘Eyes on Me’ is an absolute stunner. An amalgamation of genres, the spellbinding cut is taken from Meryem’s forthcoming debut EP ‘All in’ which is out later this year. A song that serves as an ode to the singer’s roots, ‘Northside’ sees Chris Scholar lay down his super slick falsetto-laden vocals over a crisp, trap-inspired beat that’ll melt your heart.
Toronto based singer/songwriter Tasha Angela releases the follow up visuals for her timeless single ‘Lost in Nostalgia’, which is taken from her forthcoming debut EP titled ‘Hidden Gems’. Canadian singer, songwriter and producer Charlotte Day Wilson follows up last year’s ‘Stone Woman’ EP with her gorgeous new single ‘Mountains’. Consider yourself introduced to Moël, a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer from Toronto whose debut single ‘Votk’ will take your breath away. Produced by Alex Ernewein, ‘Votk’ is a multi-layered, soulful cut that evokes a sense of nostalgia as it incorporates sublime guitars with subtle electronics to carve the perfect path for Moël’s lush vocals to weave through with ease. This is undoubtedly one of the strongest debuts you’ll hear all year.
Created “entirely in a floating hotel on the edge of Tofino, BC”, ‘Traces’, the stunning new EP from Canadian artist and producer Kogane is absolute bliss. The four-track project opens with the intricate melodies and utterly captivating soundscapes of ‘Bicycles’ and ‘Alberta’, both instrumental tracks that set the scene wonderfully for the EP’s stunning atmospherics. The EP closes with ‘Max’ and title-track ‘Traces’, both of which introduces Kogane’s soothing tones into the foray, adding another layer of warmth and comfort.
Somalia born, Toronto based singer/songwriter Amaal’s voice is quite frankly heavenly. Sharing her songs on social media catapulted her reach before landing her a deal with Universal Music Canada through whom she released her stunning official debut single ‘Not What I Thought’ earlier this year. On latest single ‘Later’, which is taken from her newly released ‘Black Dove’ EP, Amaal enchants with her super smooth vocals and poetic lyricism.
The gorgeous ballad is also accompanied by an equally stunning and insightful visual directed by Kat Webber. Dedicated to F.E.A.T, “a bus program that brings families across the province to visit loved ones in the criminal justice system”, the video depicts Amaal’s own experiences with the program, highlighting a wonderful initiative.
Toronto based R&B duo dvsn (comprised of producer Nineteen85 and singer Daniel Daley) mark their long awaited return with two new singles, ‘Miss Me?‘ and ‘In Between’. Serving as their first new music since their 2017 sophomore album ‘Morning After’, the songs are just as slick and smooth as any dvsn tracks out there. The latter, is the one we’re highlighting here – its simple, guitar-laden production allows Daley’s exceptional vocals to melt your heart as he serenades you with those golden tones.
When he’s not snapping breathtaking shots for Vice, The New York Times and The Fader (to name a few), Brooklyn based creative Nathan Bajar soothes your soul with his magnificent sounds. Featuring previously released singles ‘Devil Girl’ and ‘Silver Surfer’, his brilliant debut album ‘Playroom’ which is released via In Real Life, is packed with tracks that are just as diverse as they are playful. With contributions from the likes of CeCeFayce, Nelson Bandela Nance, Gabe and more, the ten-track project encompasses a spectrum of sounds from Hip-Hop and R&B to Soul and Jazz.
New York based artist Raveena’s music has a way of entering and soothing every sinew of your soul. Over the past few years, the rising singer/songwriter (alongside long-time collaborator and producer Everett Orr) has crafted a sound that enlightens and heals with each word, note, beat.
