Accompanied by an apocalyptic music video (made in collaboration between Grimes, Mac Boucher and Neil Hansen) which sees Grimes sat on a throne of sorts whilst everything around her crumbles, the track is driven by soothing guitar lines and strings that wonderfully carry Grimes’ angelic vocals. Created “entirely in a floating hotel on the edge of Tofino, BC”, ‘Traces’, the stunning new EP from Canadian artist and producer Kogane is absolute bliss. The four-track project opens with the intricate melodies and utterly captivating soundscapes of ‘Bicycles’ and ‘Alberta’, both instrumental tracks that set the scene wonderfully for the EP’s stunning atmospherics. The EP closes with ‘Max’ and title-track ‘Traces’, both of which introduces Kogane’s soothing tones into the foray, adding another layer of warmth and comfort.
