COLORS showcases exceptional talent from all around the globe, focused on the most distinctive new artists and original sounds.

goya gumbani

Few emcees create intimate yet expansive and soulful narratives quite like Goya Gumbani. The London-based New York artist has risen up the ranks over the past few years as one of the most exciting rappers and lyricists around with the release of projects like ‘Morta & More Doves’ and ‘GG & Bori Steps Across the Pond’ as well as ‘A Thousand Months’ and ‘Vessel Mentality’ which both dropped earlier this year. On top of his solo endeavours, Gumbani’s 2020 doesn’t stop there as he also shared two collaborative projects in the form of ‘The Lesser-Known’ and ‘Children of Ra’ with Kiina and Rago Foot respectively.

goya Gumbani – What’s The Prize

On ‘The Lesser-Known’, London-based, Brooklyn-born emcee teams up with Scottish producer Kiina to create a project that showcases the former’s poetic and open lyricism and the latter’s chilled and authentic beats. Comprising nine tracks, the project features highlight cuts like ‘Erica’ and ‘Sittin’ Right’ and serves as a wonderful presentation of the pair’s brand of jazz-inflected hip-hop.

Bringing these very vibes to COLORS and fresh off his sensational performance of new single ‘Blasé’, Goya Gumbani returns once again for an intimate rendition of opening cut ‘What’s The Prize’. Another standout from ‘The Lesser-Known’, the track embodies a gentle piano-led beat penned by Kiina as Gumbani lays down his honest and contemplative wisdom.
