Dino d’Santiago – brava

What makes Dino d’Santiago such a special artist, is his effortless execution of marrying traditional and contemporary sounds to create something that truly sounds unlike anything you’ve heard. Each of his releases embodies this very signature sound that lives and breathes on its own – each note, word, lyric, verse and beat resonating with you in an almost spiritual level. That’s exactly the case with his 2019 EP ‘SOTAVENTO’ which features standout singles like ‘ILHÉUS (Nu Bai)’ and ‘MAIO (Kel Kê Di Nôs)’.

As part of his COLORS ENCORE, the Portuguese artist shares an energising performance of ‘Brava’, another brilliant cut taken from ‘SOTAVENTO’. Everything from the upbeat and invigorating instrumentation to d’Santiago’s lively vocals and infectious melodies exude a powerful and uplifting energy – one that will stay with you long after you press play. Check out ‘Brava’ and if you haven’t already done so, be sure to watch d’Santiago’s equally stunning performance of ‘Morna’ too.

Dino d’Santiago – Morna

Portuguese singer of Cape Verdean descent Dino d’Santiago expertly bridges together the traditional Morna, Batuku and Funaná with contemporary sounds that create a truly refreshing yet timeless sound. With a number of superb records under his belt in ‘Eva’. ‘Mundu Nôbu’ and most recently ‘KRIOLA’, d’Santiago has continually pushed the boundaries with the aim to showcase these sounds to the world.

For his COLORS performance, Dino d’Santiago does that just that as he presents a contemporary take on Morna, the traditional Cape Verde genre made popular by Cesaria Evora. Opening with captivating vocals that heal and comfort instantly, the track progresses as more layers of instrumentation are added into the mix. Check out the spellbinding performance of ‘Morna’ which will be part of the deluxe release of d’Santiago’s ‘KRIOLA’ album (out this autumn) up top.
