Chester Watson – chasing clouds / summer blues | A COLORS SHOW
Multidisciplinary surrealist artist and curator Chester Watson’s sound is at once introspective and experimental. Raised in St. Louis, Missouri and based in Atlanta, Georgia, the artist’s early mixtapes—such as the ‘Guru’ series, ‘Tin Wooki’ (2014), and ‘Past Cloaks’ (2016)—received critical acclaim for their intricate lyricism and unconventional production. More recently, he released his studio albums ‘A Japanese Horror Film’ (2020) and ‘fish don’t climb trees’ (2023). Both projects demonstrate his growth as an artist, and his ability to seamlessly blend poetic wordplay with atmospheric beats.
Having solidified his status as a boundary-pushing force in modern hip-hop, Chester Watson stops by the COLORS stage to share some of his trademark psychedelic sounds in a medley of ‘chasing clouds’ and ‘summer blues’, two new singles lifted from his forthcoming studio album. Featuring minimal beats, both tracks set the stage for the artist’s eloquent storytelling and vivid songwriting. Watch the full performance above, and keep an eye out for more from Watson in the near future.
