With a growing amount of live instrumentation making its way back to recorded music, South London’s Tom Misch, is one of a handful of young multi-instrumentalists whose love for full music experiences stand true. After initially taking his love for beat-making, a “massive old school hip hop head” and parlaying it into subsequent R&B releases since 2012 on SoundCloud, Misch’s music became seamlessly infused with various hip hop influences, and danceable R&B soundscapes, capped off with a jazz underbelly, to create the magic that’s his music today. In 2018 he released his debut album Geography, a full studio LP that saw impressive collaborations with Goldlink, De La Soul, & London’s own Loyle Carner.
For his COLORS show, Tom Misch delivers soulful performance of fan favorite “It Runs Through Me”, featuring De La Soul off of his debut album Geography. At the top of the record, the self produced song opens with a sickening guitar chord that’s later met with Tom’s soft crooning sensibilities as he sings about his love for music and how it encompasses his entire being. It’s jazzy, with a slight groove that makes the listener want to just get up and dance alongside the South Londoner as he emphatically sings against the mic with his guitar in hand. His love for music is infectious and is evident in this great performance. Check out above and be sure to take a listen to his incredible debut album Geography.
