Swing aka Swing Simeon is a rapper based out of Brussels whose eclectic and powerful tracks will resonate with you even if you don’t speak French. Earlier this year, Swing unleashed his delightful debut project Marabout, a collection of ten tracks which features contributions from the likes of Le Motel and Blu Samu. What makes Swing so great is his ability to maneuver his way through songs and conveying his ideas in the most effective way possible. It’s super refreshing to see and hear a rapper who isn’t just saying things for the sake of it – at the core of each track is a message with meaning.
Performing “Canopée” as part of his COLORS session, Swing shows us exactly why he’s one of the most exciting rappers to come out of Brussels. A stand out cut from Marabout, the track which is produced by Mataya (La Cabane), sees Swing compares the success of making it in a big city to reaching the treetops in a jungle. The message of continually aiming to outdo yourself is one that resonates wonderfully, and when you pair with Swing’s infectious and hard-hitting flow – you’ve got yourself something truly special. Check out the performance of “Canopée” up top and be sure to give Swing’s Marabout project a spin too.
