S.Pri Noir is the musical project of Malick Mendosa whose eclectic and forward-thinking sounds make him one of the most exciting rappers to come out of France. Following a slew of EPs that dropped over the past few years, this year, saw the release of S.Pri Noir’s long-awaited debut album Masque Blanc (which translates to White Mask). A gargantuan effort comprising of twenty-two tracks and clocking in at just under an hour and twenty minutes long, the record features stand out cuts such as “Just pour voir”, “Baby Gyal” and “Fusée Ariane” and enlists the likes of Haute, Nekfeu, Nemir, Viviane Chidid and Still Fresh.
As part of his show for COLORS, S.Pri Noir delivers a delightfully smooth performance of “Chico” which is lifted from Masque Blanc. Produced by Seysey & Biggie Jo, the Latin/Spanish-inspired production which boasts lush guitarlines and a delectable brass section is refreshingly vibrant and captures a wonderful atmosphere. Of course, the track would be nothing with those silky lines courtesy of Noir, whose intoxicating delivery serves as the cherry on the cake. Enjoy the dazzling performance of “Chico” up top and be sure to check out Masque Blanc whilst you’re at it too!
