You’ve probably already heard Cameroon-born, French-based singer-songwriter Blick Bassy’s music without even knowing – his song ‘Kiki’ from the album ‘Ako’ served as the theme song for the iPhone 6 launch back in 2015. Most recently, Bassy released ‘1958’, his long awaited follow up to ‘Ako’ which serves as a tribute to those who fought and sacrificed their lives for the independence of Cameroon. Packed with emotive and enchanting compositions like ‘Woñi’, ‘1958’ highlights the importance of history and searching for one’s identity.
For his COLORS session, Blick Bassy serenades us with a magical rendition of previously unreleased single ‘Kaät’, which is taken from French outfit Roseaux’s forthcoming ‘Roseaux II’ project. Floating atop the mesmerising woodwind instrumentation, Bassy’s gentle and delicate intonations reveal a soulfullness unlike anything else. His lush, soft tones caress the equally delicate guitar progressions that run across the soundscape. Perfect for the summer, enjoy the sensational performance of ‘’Kaät’ up top and be sure to check out Bassy’s new album ‘1958’ too!‘
