Originally from Byron Bay, Australia, the five-piece band Parcels, are now based in Berlin and are creating music that’s a direct representation of who they’ve always wanted to be. Having released a slew of loosies and couple of EPs, Kitsune: Remixes and Hideout respectively in 2016 and 2017, Parcels has adapted a new spin on the familiar stylings of retro pop and groove filled records alike. Their most recent offering, the self titled debut album Parcels, has already garnered some praise for their uprooting pop-funk approach and has spawned standout hits like “Overnight” and “Tieduprightnow”. To put it simply, Parcels has hit the nail on the head where their smooth melodies and feel good musicality all come together for one hell of a time.
For their COLORS show, Parcels performs an infectiously rhythmic rendition of “Lightenup”, the latest hit from their self titled debut. Right out of the gate we’re called told it’s “time to lighten up”, as a dance-ready guitar loop, disco infused drum beat and funky bassline give way to the undeniable presence the song calls for. To put it simply, Parcels has hit the nail on the head where their smooth melodies and feel good musicality all come together for one hell of a time. Be sure to check out their exhilarating performance of “Lightenup” above. It’s also all the inclination you’ll need to want to give their debut album Parcels a listen!
