Nolan Chapman aka Nolan the Ninja is a Detroit based emcee, rapper and producer whose brand of Hip Hop encompasses a sense of nostalgia whilst maintaining a modern freshness. Over the years, Chapman has shared several projects via DJ Soko’s Left of Center record label in the form of ‘Fuck the Hype’, ‘he[art] AND ‘Yen’, but it’s with his major label debut ‘Sportee’ where the rapper truly sets himself apart from his contemporaries. With contributions from the likes of Chuck Inglish, A-Minus, Black Nix and more, the gargantuan record which boasts over twenty songs is the perfect embodiment of Chapman’s spirited flow, impassioned songwriting and hard-hitting soundscapes.
As part of his COLORS performance, Nolan the Ninja works his magic on ‘Oranges’, a stand out single from ‘Sportee’. Produced by 5ynoT, the track takes an old-school aesthetic with a super mellow and bouncy beat which serves as the perfect backdrop for Nolan the Ninja to lay down his brilliant verses with an unforgiving, relentless edge.
