Ever since he introduced himself with his spectacular debut single “Holler (When You Call My Name)” almost two years ago, Liverpool based artist Jalen N’Gonda has presented himself as one of the most exciting voices around. From the vibrant and upbeat atmospherics of “I Need You” and latest single “We Fell Out of Love” to the endearing intonations of “Why I Try”, the Maryland-born singer/songwriter manages to convey an effortlessness to each of his tracks.
Serving up a slice of his slick and soulful voice, Jalen N’Gonda treats COLORS to a magnificent performance of previously unheard single “Don’t You Remember”. Soundtracked by a lush backdrop that perfectly blends classical and contemporary soul to carry the song along, it’s N’Gonda warming tones that unsurprisingly steal the show here. It just goes to show that you can’t beat the emotion and atmosphere that using real instruments over computerised sounds brings to a song. With an EP on the way slated for an early summer release, we can’t wait to hear what Jalen N’Gonda serves up next – for now though, tuck into the delightful performance of “Don’t You Remember” up top.
