Ibeyi -Juice of Mandarins | A COLORS SHOW
Afro-Cuban-French twin sisters Lisa-Kainde and Naomi Diaz first introduced themselves as Ibeyi (which means “twins” in Yoruba) in 2014 with the release of their double-AA side singles ‘Oya’ and ‘River’. These songs, which also featured on Ibeyi’s self-titled debut album the following year, embody the duo’s unique sound, which blends the Yoruba influences and their Cuban heritage with hip-hop, electronic, soul, and pop elements. Since then, the duo have released two further albums: ‘Ash’ (2017) and ‘Spell 31’ (2022). The latter includes stand out singles such as ‘Made of Gold’ (with Pa Salieu) and ‘Lavender & Red Roses’ (with Jorja Smith).
For their debut A COLORS SHOW, the sisters share an exclusive rendition of their brand new single ‘Juice of Mandarins’. The track is a delectable slice of electronic neo-soul, featuring stunning harmonies and percussive, rhythmic production by the duo’s long-time collaborator Richard Russell. Watch the captivating performance up top and be sure to check out ‘Spell 31’— which includes collaborations with fellow COLORS alums Jorja Smith and BERWYN—if you haven’t already.
