Giggs is on another level. For over a decade the London based rapper has shown time and time again why he’s one of the best rappers out there. 2017 saw the release of Giggs’ latest mixtape Wamp 2 Dem (pronounced ‘W’appen to dem?’), a 13 track opus which proceeded two features on Drake’s More Life and features the likes of 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Dave, Popcaan, Donae’O and more. The follow up to 2016 Landlord LP is another taste of Giggs’ unquestionable talents as a rapper but more importantly as a storyteller and writer.
Gracing the COLORS stage with a beastly performance of standout single “The Essence”, an introspective track which serves as the sequel to 2008’s “Pain Is The Essence”. Penned by production duo Cool & Dre, the track’s simple but inviting instrumentation forms the perfect backdrop for Giggs’ raw delivery and honest, reflective lyrics to shine through. It’s one of those moments where instead of hearing the words, you’re listening, truly listening to them. They carry a weight and vulnerability which in turn encompasses a power of their own. Enjoy the chilling performance up top and be sure to check out Wamp 2 Dem too.
