Christine and the queens – People, I’ve Been Sad

Born Héloïse Letissier, French artist Christine and the Queens (or just Chris) is the definition of a pop star. It was with ‘Tilted’, a left-field pop gem taken from her delightful debut album ‘Chaleur humaine’ that truly put the singer/songwriter on the map. The singer’s charming melodies and vocals coupled with the now signature, theatrical choreography set her apart from pretty much every other artist out there. In 2018, came the introduction of the alter-ego of Chris, which also happened to the title to Letissier’s second album – another dazzling record packed with energetic, empowering pop.

Chris takes the COLORS stage with a glorious performance of ‘People, I’ve Been Sad’, a previously unreleased single. Opening with the line “It’s true that people have been sad”, soundtracked by the persistent bass-heavy electronic beat, Chris’ melancholic vocals take centre stage. See for yourself up top and listen as those vocals soar above the splendid soundscape that boasts a staggering synth section during which Chris melts our hearts as she sings in French.
