BLENDA – Options

April 23

Consider yourself introduced to Swedish-Congolese singer/rapper/songwriter Blenda and her explosive debut single ‘Options’ which dropped in March. Today, the single is accompanied by a quarantine-ready visual which features Blenda and her friends vibe to the slick track via a video call. Encompassing a pristine, crisp beat which boasts a pounding bass whilst Blenda lays down her super smooth vocals, ‘Options’ makes quite the impression and sets Blenda as one to watch.

Nadia Tehran – Jet

April 4

Iranian-Swedish artist Nadia Tehran teases the release of her forthcoming new debut ‘Dozakh: All Lovers Hell’ (out May 16th) with brand new single ‘Jet’. Reminiscent on M.I.A.’s superhit ‘Paper Planes’, ‘Jet’ takes flight with a pounding drum beat and fantastic bass which is backed up by Tehran’s empowering and ruthless, almost careless flow. It’s this relentless delivery that gives the track a sense of freedom – it’s say to say that ‘Jet’ will instantly get you hyped, no matter what.

Cherrie – O.G.

March 1

‘O.G’ is the new title track from Cherries’ upcoming and highly anticipated mixtape with the same name (will be released in the near future on her own label ‘Araweelo’). O.G. is a Swedish acronym for ‘Orten Gäri’ (in English ‘Suburb girl’) and the song is an anthem for girls who’ve made something out from nothing.

The playful track, which is produced by talented Swedish producer Filip Hunter, shimmers with a touch of old school, down tempo R&B that’ll make everyone move.

Cherrie is proof that music is an international language – she’s brought attention to music lovers all around the world with only singing in Swedish. One of her biggest ambitions is to unite the Somali diaspora around the globe and acknowledging that you can become what you want if you have the strive and ambition to succeed. Cherrie is here to inspire and radiate positive vibes, inspiring us to rule our own destiny and to be proud of ourselves.

BONBON X YRA – GÅR OM

October 3

Swedish trap duo BONBON x YRA are certainly not afraid to speak their mind. The pair have an empowered DIY attitude that they apply to all aspects of their operations, from production to videos, clothing and gigs; when Swedish festival Emmaboda didn’t reply to their request to come perform for free, they managed to score VIP tickets and did guest appearances on 3 headline shows. Their refusal to take no for an answer is an invaluable driving force in the rough climate of the modern music industry, and they hope will set an example for other underground artists and inspire more female rappers to pursue their talents, especially in their native Scandinavia. ‘GÅR OM’ (‘Pass By’ in English) is the follow up single to their breakout hit ‘WYA’ (Where Ya At), this time released on the all female label GAL:ANT run by Swedish reggae artist Syster Sol.

Aurelia Dey – Sweet Love

June 25

Using her music as an expression of the Afropean movement, the Ghanaian-Swedish singer Aurelia Dey has a unique ability to capture everyday, real-life moments and transfer them into her own sound. Her latest release ‘Sweet Love’ is an infectious summer anthem, paying homage to an unconditional romance, a first class upgrade compared to her past relationships, as she sings “my ex-man boring” over a bashment-infused rhythm.
