Melbourne based electronic duo GL (comprised of Graeme Pogson and Ella Thompson) mark their return with the groove-inflected new single ‘Night Habit’. Since releasing their superb debut album ‘Touch’ back in 2016, the pair have been relatively quiet, but it looks like things are about to change with ‘Night Habit’, a sensuous and playful number. Led by a funk filled guitar line and electronic beat, the track is a retro-futuristic pop gem that’s heightened by Thompson’s evocative vocals.
Consider yourself introduced to Melbourne-based musician Rudy Sandapa aka Gervais Sun who serves up some funk-filled vibes in the form of debut single ‘Overzealous’. The magnificent instrumentation brings together elements of pop, jazz, electronic and more as Sandapa’s sweet sounding voice shines across the groove-inflected beat to create the perfect summery atmosphere.
Having premiered the track on SNL last month, Tame Impala, the psychedelic musical project fronted by Kevin Parker, have shared ‘Borderline’. Along with previously released single ‘Patience’, the two tracks serve as the first taste of new music since the band released ‘Currents’ back in 2015. With ‘Borderline’, the Australian outfit deliver yet another delicious slice of sun-soaked psychedelia as Ken Parker’s breezy vocals sweep across the bouncy production comprised of a crisp beat and groovy guitars.
Melbourne based multi-instrumentalist Yeo delights with his first single of the year in the form of the bouncy ‘Restless’. Packed with groove, the vibrant atmospherics of the song are backed up brilliantly by Yeo’s soothing tones which ride the way of those funk-filled guitar lines. Effortlessly blurring the lines of electronic, pop, R&B and soul, ‘Restless’ is another testament to Yeo’s talents as a singer, songwriter and producer.
