Kikesa – Tout seul
Kikesa was fed with jazz throughout his childhood by his music-loving parents, introducing him to African music and French songs; then he discovered rap, and the revelation became a devouring passion and a true vocation. Thanks to his musical background, the prolific rapper from Nancy is at ease with various styles from future bass to trap, feverish bangers or even abrasive freestyles. Adept at DIY, he refuses any formatting and constraint in order to progress his sound to new and unexpected places. Every Sunday for the last few months, he’s released a brand new track and video; on ‘Tout Seul’, the self-proclamed “new hippie” spits his sharp flow, at one moment outrageous and self-mocking and at others refreshingly open and honest as he charts his ambitions and expresses his sense of loneliness.
Alpha Wann – Louvre
Follow a band of Parisian art thieves through this high-octane heist, as Alpha Wann dishes out a feast of sharp bars, slick flows and pure energy. The ambitious visual is lifted from the French rapper’s new EP ‘Alph Lauren 3’, giving a taster of what to expect from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, scheduled to release this coming autumn.
