TOBi Interview

Nigeria-born, Canada-based musician TOBi creates unapologetic soul music. In October 2019, he made his COLORS debut with a rendition of ‘Beige’ (produced by Harrison), a highlight from his 2020 ‘ELEMENTS Vol. 1’ project. Having released a slew of singles throughout the last year, TOBi kicked off 2022 with ‘Outta This World’ (with fellow Canadian producer Harrison) which was followed by ‘Too Hot’, ‘That’s Alright’ and ‘Before We Panic’ (with Mikky Ekko).

Returning to the COLORS stage, TOBi showcases his unique blend of soul and hip-hop in a performance of his brand new single ‘Flowers’. Taken from his forthcoming album, the track combines TOBi’s slick penmanship and smooth flow with a breezy, guitar-laden soundscape. Born in Lagos, Nigeria and currently based in Toronto, Canada, musician and artist TOBi crafts swirling soundscapes that entice and invigorate as his pristine vocals pierce through on tracks like ‘iNDECiSiONS’ and ‘Deeper’ which feature on his brilliant 2016 debut EP ‘FYi’. Earlier this year, the rising singer/songwriter continued to impress with the release of ‘STILL, a body of work that beautifully conveys both joy and sorrow as TOBi sings and raps his way throughout.

For his COLORS performance, the Nigerian-Canadian musician and artist brings more of his crisp sounds with ‘Beige’, a previously unreleased single. Topped off by TOBi’s slick vocals and smooth delivery, the track finds candid moments in its simple yet effective production, with that bubbling bass sweeping across those sharp drums and keys.
