Mahalia – hide out
British singer/songwriter Mahalia first melted our hearts with her sensational performance of ‘Sober’, which has now amassed over 35 million views, just over two years ago. Since then, Mahalia has gone onto release her superb debut album ‘Love And Compromise’ which followed the equally impressive projects ‘Diary Of Me’ and ‘Seasons’ respectively. Released earlier this month, ‘Love And Compromise’ features contributions from the likes of Burna Boy, Hamzaa, Lucky Daye and fellow COLORS alum Ella Mai.
On the record, the Birmingham based singer lays down her soothing tones over lush soundscapes that shine from start to finish, and that’s exactly the case with her dazzling performance of ‘Hide Out’, the striking opener to the record. Produced by Maths Times Joy (who also produced ‘Sober’), the track opens with a snippet of an interview of Eartha Kitt from 1982 where she’s asked about her view on love and compromise. Mahalia’s self assured and slick vocals enter the foray with ease as those silky tones shine through the glorious soundscape. Check out Mahalia’s brilliant performance of “Hide Out” above and be sure to give ‘Love And Compromise’ if you haven’t already done so!
