Blood Orange – Dark & Handsome
Producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist Dev Hynes is a musical machine. When he’s not providing his golden sounds to the likes of ASAP Rocky, Empress Of and Mariah Carey, he’s releasing soulful masterpieces as Blood Orange. Having shared the magnificent ‘Negro Swan’ last summer, Hynes recently dropped ‘Angel’s Pulse’, an epilogue of sorts to the record. The star-studded mixtape features contributions from artists such as Arca, Joba (of Brockhampton), Justine Skye, COLORS album Kelsey Lu and more.
For his COLORS session, Blood Orange brings an endearing and utterly beautiful performance of Toro y Moi featuring ‘Dark & Handsome’, another stunning gem lifted from ‘Ange’s Pulse’. Soundtracked by atmospheric keys and a persistent programmed beat, Blood Orange lays down his soothing staccato vocals as he sings about grief, death and suicide.
