Bashy

Bashy is a British rapper and actor from Hammersmith, London, who pioneered the grime scene in the mid-2000s with his early mixtapes and hard-hitting tracks like ‘Black Boys’ and ‘Kidulthood to Adulthood’, which are lifted from his debut album ‘Catch Me If You Can’. After a musical hiatus focusing on his acting career (including roles in Top Boy, Black Mirror, Them), he returned in 2024 with his powerful sophomore album, ‘Being Poor Is Expensive.’ Produced by the likes of Toddla T and Benji B, the album delves into his Windrush-rooted upbringing in Brent, tackling poverty, identity, and community with sharp storytelling.

Bashy – Midnight in Balans | A COLORS SHOW

On his COLORS debut, and in the lead up to his highly-anticipated set at TONES of London in September, Bashy shares a measured performance of ‘Midnight in Balans’, the closing track to ‘Being Poor Is Expensive’. A simmering blend of soul‑infused grime and Caribbean grooves underpins his steady, authoritative flow, as he reflects on the delicate balance between success and survival, pondering wealth’s fleeting nature and the fragility of well‑earned gains.
